MIND YOUR MOM

Just about every May I sit down to write Homeward Bound; I write about Mom's Day. And why not... it is a very special day for very special people.

My moms (I explain later the plural) used to tell me, seemingly repeatedly, to do this and do that, not to do this and not to do that. ALL, I recall, very valuable advice. Looking back on it all these many years later, I can say they
were, very wise women.

Time reveals, in fact, just about every caring Mother is a Wise Woman. I can see why we carve out a special day each year to acknowledge Moms. So here is a shout out to all Mom's - Happy Mother's Day!!

I had four moms in my lifetime. My brother and I celebrate them every second Sunday in May until the last one left this world victim of the virus last year.

How did I have four moms you may ask? Well, my biological mother passed away when I was only 6 months old and my brother was 3.5 years old.

But, three of her sisters took care of us and provided the same kind of love that only a mom can give, so we never missed having a mom. I am sure some reading this can relate and have similar stories. For ALL those whose Mom is no longer with us, may you remember the best about them. In addition to that, there are also many who never knew their Mom due to unfortunate circumstance. I bet someone played that roll in their life and they too deserve a Happy Mother's Day!

Especially...the Moms of the students being helped by Unidos Por La Educación.

Through our Go Serve Big mission statement we are on a quest to raise $5,000 for "Unidos Por La Educación" in 2021! For may years Unidos Por La Educación has established in Montemorelos as one program helping many low income students and involving many former students and institutions to help those who need help the most.

Whether is providing scholarships for the financially struggling students, or providing special work opportunities,
helping with placing them on special canvassing programs or any other opportunity to earn their way to finish
their education, Unidos Por La Educación leads the way in restoring the lives of one student and one graduation at a time
